Welcome

“Please come in and make yourself at home”

I settled into the nook on your couch

The steam from your coffee cup which I claimed as my own fogged up my glasses

I befriended the silences between rambling sentences and sighs

And stamped the art on your walls into my memory

I learned you on a Wednesday at one in the afternoon

And knew you in a vision when we were wise and grey

Your silhouette at nightfall kept me sound

While your hands told stories words could not convey

But I lost track as the arrows moved along

Blindly, I overstayed my welcome

Fragments

Sometimes you look at me like I’m one of the biggest parts of your world. Yet, when the butterflies land, swaying only with the wind, I too realize I am often dragged by the current. Soon the seasons will change, the air will be full of stillness, and while I’ll still see my refection in your eyes, it will be microscopic. Darling your world is far too vast and I am lost as I do flutter, because even the biggest parts never add up to a whole.

Misunderstood

Vivid landscapes pour out in words

A million thoughts escaping

Free at last

Hours floating into one

Then as the clock strikes twelve

You shrink back into your shell again

Taciturn

We must start over

So characteristic of your zodiac
